Setting You and Your Most Difficult Patient Up for Success

Presentation Date: 05/29/2024
CE Expiration Date: 05/29/2027

RETURN TO: Webinars

DURATION: 28:07

Hypoxia in the critically ill or inured patient can lead to secondary injuries which will decrease the patient’s survivability or leave them with disability. Meeting the oxygen needs of the critically ill or injured patient can be challenging. Preparing your patient, as well as yourself for the rapid sequence induction (RSI) procedure prior to the initiation of RSI will ensure successful airway management and intubation without the risk of poor outcomes caused by hypoxia or inadequate resuscitation. This webinar will give the audience tips and tools for success in the RSI and intubation procedure, including the at risk obstetrical population.

Learning Objectives:

  • Recognize the risks associated with rapid sequence induction in acutely ill patients, including obstetrical patients.
  • Understand one physiological adaptation in pregnancy that alters the respiratory system compared to the non-pregnant population.
  • Discuss the potential complications that can arise from hypoxic episodes during intubation.
  • Apply three strategies for pre-intubation and peri-intubation techniques to improve patient outcomes.

Members who are logged will be provided with a CE Credit link (below) for the duration of 3 years from the original presentation date (noted above). After 3 years, CE will no longer be made available. Members however are still welcome to watch the presentation independently for non-CE credit.
